## About Dr Yung Shing Wai

Dr Yung Shing Wai is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in orthopaedic, foot, and shoulder surgery. He has over 30 years of experience in Singapore and the United States.

**Qualifications:**
- MBBS, National University of Singapore (1985)
- Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS Ed, 1990)
- Sub-specialty fellowship in Foot & Ankle Surgery, University of Washington, Seattle (1994)
- Sub-specialty fellowship in Shoulder Surgery, University of Washington, Seattle (1994)
- Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (1997)

**Career Highlights:**
- First fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon in Singapore
- One of the first fellowship-trained shoulder surgeons in Singapore
- Founding Director of the Foot and Ankle Service at Singapore General Hospital (SGH)

- Pioneering figure in bunion surgery in Singapore with 30+ years of observation
- First surgeon in Singapore to use implants to correct overpronation and flat foot
- One of the first to use keyhole techniques with implants to correct foot arch problems
- Pioneering figure in arthroscopic surgical techniques for the shoulder (ligament and tendon repairs)
- Pioneering figure in hip arthroscopy for cartilage tears and bone impingement
